THE PROJECT
Private Villa, Al Narjis, in detail.
A private residence in Al Narjis, designed for a family that wanted something genuinely unusual — an Art Deco villa in a city that rarely sees one, with details shaped around the family's two parrots.
Art Deco is unusual in Saudi residential design — the brief called for it, and we ran with it. Throughout the house we developed a motif of branches and curated landing places for the family's two parrots, woven into joinery and architectural details so they read as part of the design rather than imposed on it. We also designed an entire room for the parrots themselves — climate-controlled, acoustically considered, and built around their daily rhythm. Public-facing zones — majlis, dining, formal reception — held the materials and proportions to receive guests at a Saudi standard. Private zones were calmer and quieter underfoot. Delivered turnkey: every element on site, every supplier coordinated, every deadline held.
